The sailing committee has made the following amendments to the race qualification rules as set down in the sailing instructions schedule of races 4 and sailing instructions 11.1:
• SOR 4: qualifying - see sailing instructions 11.1 for number of races to count if not all the races are sailed.
• SI 11.1: races to count - the number of races to count in each series shall be half-plus-one (rounded down if necessary to a whole number) of the total number of races sailed.
To this end; where the number of races sailed as a result of poor weather or attendance, the number required to qualify for the series will be reduced as in SI 11.1. for example “the Spring series”: to qualify 7 from 12. however only 9 races were sailed, by applying SI 11.1, half the series sailed is 9/2 (5.5), plus 1 is 5.5, rounded down is 5.
Therefore 2 races will count as qualifying the series. for a boat that sailed 3 races one of these races will be classed as a discard using the rules below:
The number of discards will be applied to this number of races as follows:
• races scored in the series: 1, discards on races in series: 0
• races scored in the series: 2, discards on races in series: 0
• races scored in the series: 3, discards on races in series: 1
• races scored in the series: 4, discards on races in series: 1
• races scored in the series: 5, discards on races in series: 2
• races scored in the series: 6, discards on races in series: 2
• races scored in the series: 7, discards on races in series: 3
• races scored in the series: 8, discards on races in series: 3
• races scored in the series: 9, discards on races in series: 4
• races scored in the series: 10, discards on races in series: 4
• races scored in the series: 11, discards on races in series: 5
• races scored in the series: 12, discards on races in series: 5

The notes / column in the table above indicate the changed qualification count for the series as applied by the rules above.
